Bright Colours is the debut album by Eightfold.
The band consists of Chris MacGregor (vocals and guitar), Sam Benge (guitar and bass) and Mariano Mezzeo (percussion).
The album features special guests Nigel Gavin on bass (Jews Brothers, Nairobi Trio), Kingsley Melhuish on trumpet (Brassouls, Spargo), John White on Violin (Mestar), Natarani Theobold-Ross on cello (Heartstrings) and the Heaven Bent Gospel Choir.
Chris’s voice has been compared to Ben Harper and Cat Stevens yet he has his own distinctive style. His lyrics are socially conscious, often philosophical and sometimes spiritual.
Sam Benge completed a masters degree in classical guitar at Auckland University in 2002 and his virtuoso playing beautifully complements Chris’s heartfelt songs.
Mariano is from Argentina and is a highly skilled percussionist.
Bright Colours was recorded and produced by Monkey Records founder Nigel Braddock over the course of two years.
